Philip is the Practice Principal and owner of Dunmurry Dental Dental Practice.
Philip qualified as a dental surgeon from Queen’s University, Belfast. After qualification he practiced as an Associate General Dental Practitioner in Carrickfergus until 2004. In 2004 he converted a residential property and opened the doors of Dunmurry Dental Practice and by focusing on high quality dental care has seen the practice grow from strength to strength into what it is now, a multi award winning six surgery dental practice providing routine and cosmetic dentistry.
He is a part-time Clinical Tutor in Restorative Dentistry at the School of Dentistry, a role he has enjoyed for since early 2001. Philip is actively involved in the British Dental Association, representing dentists in Northern Ireland on many committees and supporting educational and social activities of the local NI Branch. In recognition of this work he was awarded a Merit Award in 2022 and was President of the BDA in Northern Ireland in 2023.
He continues his post-graduate professional development completing courses in many aspects of dentistry and has gained a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) for Healthcare Professionals from QUB. Philip will always be found at a course or trade show in the hunt for the latest gadget to help drive the practice forward with the latest technology in order to improve patient care and outcomes.

Gemma Taylor

Gemma graduated from Queens University Belfast in 2009 and after working in Edinburgh for 3 years she returned to Northern Ireland and joined the Dunmurry Dental team in 2013.
Gemma enjoys making patients feel good about their smile again by using cosmetic procedures such as: Tooth Whitening, Composite Bonding, Veneers and Orthodontic Aligners. Gemma has completed various courses such Mini Smile Makeover, Trioclear Aligners, 6MS Aligners and Composite Injection Technique.
Gemma has held the role of Scientific Secretary of the NI branch of the BDA since 2016, the role involves organising lectures and CPD for the local dental profession.
Outside of dentistry Gemma’s artistic flair is demonstrated in her skills at cake decorating. She is a mum of two boys and enjoys the gym to destress.

Nicola graduated from Queens University Belfast in 2013 and has been working at Dunmurry Dental Practice since 2014.
She is proud of the relationships she has built with her patients over the years. She enjoys meeting people of all ages and from all walks of life, and takes great pleasure in helping her patients overcome their dental fears and boost their self-confidence by transforming their smiles.
Nicola is always updating her skills undertaking training as part of her professional development to keep up to date with the latest techniques in dentistry. These include most recently undertaking clear aligners and composite bonding courses.
Outside work you’ll find her either running around a hockey pitch or enjoying long weekends in Donegal with her husband and two young children.

Karen McConnell

Karen qualified from Queen’s University in 2014. She then completed 2 year post-graduate training scheme, which exposed her to a variety of different settings, including Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine and General Dentistry. During this time she also obtained her postgraduate MFDS qualification through the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons in Glasgow. Since then Karen has worked within a general dentist settling and became a member of the Dunmurry Dental team in 2018.
Karen enjoys all aspects of general dentistry. She especially enjoys working with nervous patients and strives to make the dental experience as pleasant as possible. Her favourite treatments include composite bonding and placement of crowns and veneers. Her main aim is to enhance patients own smiles to improve function, confidence and aesthetics, whilst still giving natural results.
Outside of Dentistry is married and has two boys, Jack and Sam, who keep her busy and help her achieve a great work- life balance and also enjoys running.

Ross graduated from the University of Dundee 2014. After working in Scotland and Australia for 5 years he returned to Northern Ireland and joined the team at Dunmurry Dental Practice 2019.
Ross is passionate about providing minimally invasive dentistry. This is reflected by his completion of the world-renowned, Dr Chris Orr, Cosmetic & Aesthetic Restorative Dentistry course in London. Ross enjoys helping patients gain confidence in their smile by restoring and stabilising oral health in a minimally invasive way. He has completed further training in several areas
including: Cosmetic fixed braces, Cosmetic orthodontic aligners, Composite bonding and Restoring dental implants
Outside of dentistry Ross enjoys keeping fit by running and going to the gym. He enjoys keeping up to date with all things sport especially rugby.

Olivia qualified as a Dental Surgeon from Trinity College Dublin in 2015. On graduating, she returned to work in Belfast, providing a mix of NHS and private treatments.
Her special interest is aesthetic dentistry; particularly cosmetic whitening, composite bonding and porcelain veneers/crowns. She has attended several courses including Mini Smile Makeover and Michael Crilly's Anterior Composite Course. She is always looking for new courses and learning opportunities to improve these skills. She is passionate about restoring patient confidence in their smile, and her gentle nature make nervous patients feel at ease throughout their treatment.
She loves spending her free time with her husband and 3 young children, and enjoys going to the gym and playing music to unwind.

Kate qualified as a dental surgeon from Queen’s University Belfast in 2017. Following this she worked in general practice in Liverpool where she enjoyed providing both NHS and private treatments. Since moving back home, Kate has worked in dental practices based in Belfast and joined Dunmurry Dental Practice in May 2023.
She continues to update her post graduate education by attending post-graduate courses and lectures. Kate enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and has a particular interest in prevention and minimally invasive restorative dentistry.

Maria Nolan (GDC Reg No.6501) qualified as a dental hygienist from Queen’s University in 2004. Before this she gained her national and hospital dental nursing exams and worked in both hospital and general dental practice settings. She then joined Dunmurry Dental Practice in 2006 and has worked in both the national health and private sectors. She continues her professional development through courses, lectures and in-house training.
